VINEYARDS developed from the pioneering Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards of Castilla La Mancha and the first Syrah and Petit Verdot vineyards planted in Spain in 1991-1992. The vineyards are grown on high trellises, using canopy management techniques such as Smart-Dyson or Lira drive systems. The trellises are constantly monitored to obtain maximum illumination of bunches and leaves, eliminating excessive bunches by means of green harvesting.
MéTHODES PRODUCTION Made entirely from vines grown on the clay-limestone soils of the Valdepusa Estate (Malpica del Tajo, Toledo), owned by the Marqués de Griñón family since 1292. Hand-harvested, then de-stemmed and gravity-fed into fermentation tanks. Maceration extended to 4 or 5 weeks, then aged in new barrels and semi-new French Allier oak vats for 20 to 24 months in a heated aging warehouse.
TASTING NOTES Well-covered cherry-red color. On the nose, it combines the best of the grape varieties with the benefits of ageing. Very good aromatic intensity, clean, round, elegant and powerful on the palate, with excellent tannic structure. On the finish, well-nuanced fruity contributions dominate - plum jam, wild berries - with long persistence.
Drink with moderation. Alcohol is dangerous to health.
