Marqués de Riscal Reserva is essentially made with grapes from 15+ year-old Tempranillo vines, located in the upper clay-limestone soils of the Rioja region. This variety stands up well to oak aging and bottle ageing, thanks to its good acid balance and fine tannins. Graciano and Mazuelo varieties, whose percentage in the blend does not exceed 10%, add freshness and lively color. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 26°C, with maceration lasting no more than 12 days. Reserva Marqués de Riscal is aged for around two years in American oak barrels, forming a wine that is in keeping with Riojaclassicism, fresh, fine and elegant, with great ageingpotential. Before being marketed, this wine spends a year in bottle in the Marqués de Riscal cellars.
